"Repeat prescription"

About: The Lawson Practice

(as a service user),

I reordered weekly insulin one week ago with my pharmacist. 6 days later I called the pharmacist about this order as I had run out. I was told it hadn’t been authorised by my GP practice and to call back the next day.

I called back on day 7 and the pharmacist said the GP reception said that this insulin wasn’t urgent and that I could wait a couple more days which was not helpful for me.

I feel helpless.

Hello, we have discovered a problem with our computer system and patient requests for medications going into the inboxes of doctors who are on leave.

This absolutely shouldn't happen and we apologise to all those who have had difficulties. Sometimes we only realise there is a problem when a patient complains. We were alerted to this problem last week and have been working to resolve it and think we now have.

Would you be able to email your complaint to the Lawson practice and ask them to send to me personally so that I can see if this is what happened to your request. We really are so sorry about this and want to be sure we correct the faults so knowing who you are would be very helpful.

Interestingly this is quite a widespread problem and the national operating system itself, when we contacted them, said they are making changes to the system to try and stop this happening.

Again, we offer our apologies and wish that you hadn't been put through this stress.
