"Excellent care"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 South

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been in 4 South for 5 days now and I have received great care on a medical level and also on a cleanliness level- the floors and all surfaces are spotless! I have seen confidence and clarity in my doctors and they ask me sensible questions so I know they are listening to me.

I appreciate it when people are direct and I have great hope for my surgery and further treatment because I have confidence in my doctors and they always do a very professional job. All staff provide an excellent and caring service.

If I had to comment on anything that could be improved, I would say speeding up admissions as I experienced a lot of delays when I came into A&E. I also require a different diet due to my adverse reactions to lactose, so I would like more of a consultation with a dietician because I don't always know if food has had dairy products in it and it makes me feel very poorly when I eat foods containing lactose.

In addition to this although the doctors are great at answering any of my questions about my current condition, some questions can sometimes be left unanswered about my life after surgery and once I get better but I know there are so many patients for them to get around so answering every single question I have is difficult.

Apart from these minor issues I have been very comfortable and it has been great to be allowed a visitor even during Covid. I really appreciate all the nurses and doctors that have cared for me throughout my hospital stay.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback in the great care that you received whilst being an inpatient and that you felt confidence in the care given. I am sorry to hear that you had delay in your admission when you come to the emergency department, unfortunately due to the amount of admissions to the wards, often there is delays and I do apologize in regards to this delay.

With regards to your dietary requirement I will speak with catering services to see if menus can be adjusted to facilitate those that is Lactose free. I will speak with ward staff about seeking advice from dietician for those lactose free also.

Thankyou again for your feedback and wish you well in your planned surgery
