"Unwell child"

About: General Practices in Grampian Kincardine Community Hospital / Gmed Base (Medical Emergency Department) NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as a parent/guardian),

My little boy has been unwell with loose stools for the past week. Unfortunately, mid week, he developed ongoing temperatures and a rash all over his body.

He was seen by the GP pre temperatures but unfortunately they could not see him again once he developed a temperature and advised we contact NHS 24. I found each interaction with NHS 24 to be helpful and reassuring. We required to have a near me with Dr Burnett due to the ongoing rash and my son's irritability. Dr Burnett was really reassuring and supportive which alleviated our worry regarding my little boy. Thankfully, he has improved and is better.

Thank you NHS 24,in particular Dr Burnett, its a difficult and stressful time for all but we felt well supported and reassured by your care and attention to detail.

Hi CM143

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch. I'm so pleased your little boy is doing much better and is well on the mend. It sounds as though it's been a worrying time for you all.

I'm so pleased that you found the care provided to be helpful and reassuring. It sounds as though Dr Burnett really put you at ease which helped to alleviate your stress.

It may be helpful to explain that although your initial call would have been made to NHS 24, Dr Burnett is actually employed by the local Out of Hours Service within NHS Grampian. I have asked the Care Opinion team to tag NHS Grampian to your story so that Dr Burnett can read your complimentary feedback. I'm sure he will be delighted to read of the positive impact his care had.

If you wish to provide any further detail on your call to 111, then I would be delighted to hear directly from you. You can contact me at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

With best wishes.

Kind regards

Shona

Dear CM143,

I am sorry to hear that your little boy was unwell, it must have been a difficult and stressful time for you both. I am happy to hear that your little boy has now improved and feels better.

I am really pleased to hear that your experience with the Grampian Out of Hours Service was positive and that a clinician provided you with support and reassurance.

I have shared your feedback with Dr Burnett who was really pleased to read it- he said that it made his day! So thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write to us, it is hugely appreciated.

Best wishes,

Magda Polcik
