"Our stay in mph special care unit"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Neonatal care

(as a service user),

Following the birth of our son at 32 weeks gestation, we have spent 24 days in Musgrove’s neonatal unit.

It’s never easy having a preterm baby but the care we have received has been outstanding, the staff are kind, compassionate and very skilled. We have always felt he was very safe in their care and we were well informed of any changes.

The open access for both my husband and I has been wonderful and being able to call day or night is very reassuring and nothing felt too much trouble for the staff.

Not allowing family and friends to visit due to COVID restrictions, I believe was beneficial in allowing all the babies and mothers to rest more effectively and I would support this as a permanent a change going forward post pandemic.

I feel very happy and hugely grateful for the care we received during our stay.

Thank you very much for your very kind comments about your stay on the neonatal unit.

I am so glad that you felt your baby was safe, but yet were so involved in his care. We consider parents to be partners in care.

We are in the process of considering changes to visiting, with lifting of lockdown, so it is very useful to have your thoughts on this, and we will take them into consideration as we try to find a way to ensure the best care for all the babies and their families.

Thank you again for taking time to feedback.
