"So very blessed to fall into the open arms of Ward 49"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as the patient),

I have just finished a 3 week stay at Ward 49 where I was treated for an ovarian abscess and sepsis.

The care, treatment and support I received was above and beyond anything I could ever have imagined. Every single member of staff I met , doctors, nurses , consultants , those who were there cleaning , catering , the porters absolutely everyone had such a positive , friendly and professional approach to everything they did.

The direct health care I was given supported me not just physically but also mentally and emotionally, it got me through a difficult time with a smile on my face and I felt safe every step of the way.

Thanks just doesn’t feel enough for all that was done for me as they worked so hard and undoubtedly saved my life.

I was genuinely sad to be saying goodbye to such a special, inspiring team of people on ward 49 when I left even though I was so delighted to be returning home. I’ve been truly humbled by the care I was given and the care other patients all received around me over those 3 weeks. I will never forget it or take my health for granted after they worked so hard to send me home safe and happy to my children and family.

As I’ve said to them, I was so very blessed to fall into the open arms of Ward 49 when I fell so unwell. They are all incredible, special people .

Thank you again!

Xx

Dear Zoex41

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion.

Thank you very much for commenting on how well the Gynaecology multidisciplinary team met your needs during your recent episode of care whilst in Ward 49 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I am delighted to hear that you felt all aspects of your care, physical, psychological and emotional were supported, as this is a priority for us!

It must have been very difficult for you to be separated from your children and family for 3 weeks so it is terrific, that at time when you were unwell, you felt the team were able to keep you in good spirts.

I have spoken to SCN Dunn who is absolutely delighted to receive this and will share with ALL the team.

I hope you are doing well at home and recovering from your procedure.

Best wishes

Isabel Traynor

Lead Nurse, Gynaecology
