"Still no one can tell us what is wrong"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / General Medicine Royal Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology West Belfast

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter took unwell back in November we went to our own GP for a check up he said sounded like a grumbling appendix and if it got any worse to bring my daughter to Children's A&E RVH. So that week it got bad we went to hospital and they checked her and brought her back that week for a ultra sound as they thought it was a twisted ovary. The scan came back clear they said it was not her ovary and it was not her appendix as they did bloods and urine also. Then we have been up and down still to this day.   She has been told it was maybe twisted ovary, then was told it was viral, it was lymphnoids, then it was a stomach migraine, was also told to go home and try forget about it as most cases go undiagnosed.

Then another scan revealed a 6cm cyst on her ovary. They then said they wanted an MRI and she would be referred to gyne which then after the MRI the cyst has burst so they said gyne didn't want to know because it wasn't surgical. Then we went back to A&E numerous times and one doctor told us to call our own GP be asked to put on the mini pill and referred by them to gyne. My doctor when I rang was annoyed that I was told to do this and said under no circumstances was she putting my child on a pill without a diagnosis as she was still being investigated. So we  Waited again on another consultant for another assessment which they discharged her back to a pediatrician which had now said it's all in her head and she needs to go see a psychiatrist , eat more greens and drink plenty of water.

My child has been suffering with lower tummy pain always the same side. It never fully goes away nothing I give her to take the pain away helps she sometimes cannot even bend over to put a pair of socks on. She sometimes feel so unwell and the pain makes her not want to eat she can't walk far and she has now lost out on so much school as she has been sent home in is in so often it's taken a toll on her mental state as she no longer sees friends or goes walks or leaves home as it's to painful to walk at times as the pain makes her double over.

I am so upset that this is happening and no one seems to want to know they always say when we go to A&E that they can't really do anything until she's seen by a consultant, then when she sees consultant no one can diagnose her and she is back to square one. Until yesterday when my child was devasted being told it's all in her head and she needs to forget about it and go out walks which she struggles to walk and drink plenty of water and eat vegetables until she sees a physiatrist. She is being made out to be a liar as if she wants to be sitting in hospital for hours at a time. We have been there from November numerous times not just a few quite often and it's always the same. I just hope that nothing serious is wrong and she has complications when she is older if it is to do with her ovarys and she struggles later in life with something that could have maybe been prevented but she was ignored and told it's in her head. I cannot wrap my head round being told that.   In the mean time while she waits on a letter to see a psychiatrist that when she is sore go back to A&E. But when we do go shes sent home, no help no way of coping with the pain and crys herself to sleep in agony. Where do I go from here any ideas? Anyone else for another opinion what are her options to revive the help she deserves. All she is asking for is someone to take her seriously and try figure out why this is happening so she can pick her life back up and get back into school come September.
