"Lack of wheelchairs entering CAH"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had to take my mum into the minor injury unit today and when I entered I was shocked to see no wheelchairs on entry. I looked about for some to no avail and when I finally found one lying about it was beyond repair, the wheels wouldn't roll and it was falling apart, unsafe. The staff have been great but I think there needs to be more wheelchairs available and in a particular place on entry for the future.

Dear rob5 - thank you for taking the time to provide this valuable feedback. Unfortunately. in the past when we placed wheelchairs in the front lobby they frequently went missing, so we are cautious about placing them at the front entrance.

However, we will put a sign up at the front entrance stating ‘if you require a wheelchair please report to reception’. Reception staff will then alert the porters who will bring a wheel chair.

I hope your Mum is recovering

Best wishes

Anita Carroll
