"Receptionist seem to think they are medically…"

About: Woosehill Practice

I have unfortunately had to speak to the doctors several times over the past few months for my 18 month old, who has been catching infections very frequently. It takes a long time to get through reception to be able to book a phone appt. but that’s ok. All doctors have been fantastic. My concern is the receptionists who seem to think they are medically qualified. For example, refusing to allow us into the surgery when the GP has himself called us in so he can examine my little one who has a temperature. The receptionist screamed at us that we were spreading covid. Today, I called again for a prescription, which the GP did very efficiently. But before I could get past the receptionist to get an appt (all by phone, not in person) she wanted me to diagnose what type of Infection my little one had, and that we should be getting a PCR Covid test and the GP will insist on a PCR test. When I spoke to the GP, covid didn’t come up once. Might be worth the receptionist educating themselves on the fact that there are other reasons for a high temperature aside from Covid if they want to be dishing out medical advice! As stated though, the doctors are all amazing!
