"Attending for a TOE"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

I was taken in immediately and introduced to Julie McDonald who put me entirely at ease. I was taken straight into the procedure room where I was wired up to the equipment. I was introduced to all members of staff who were to be present during the procedure. I cannot stress strongly enough how caring and supportive the staff were.

The Doctor arrived after a short while and introduced himself to me. He took a considerable time explaining the procedure and going through all my questions and then getting me to sign the consent form. At this point I felt awful as I realised I would be more comfortable if I went to the loo.

This was all accommodated ….. I was detached from all the wires  and after making myself comfortable reattached.

Then I remember very little after the injection of sedative. After coming round I was cared for by Julie until being given a drink and some fruit which went down very well. Ready to go home…. Phoned my daughter and when she arrived I was escorted to reception to meet her.

The next day Dr Fersia called me with the results and options.

What a superb seamless service.

Well done Forth Valley

Thank you so much to Julie, Yvonne and Claire.

Dr Hargreaves and all who made my stay so relaxed.

Dear Lornahappy

I'm delighted to hear that your attendance for your specialist heart scan (TOE) was a good one. Providing this service has been a little bit more difficult during the pandemic so I am really pleased to hear that all the hard work the team have put in to the service this year is working - and you got the high standard of care which I know the team are really proud of. It's really important that each of our patients gets the care that matters most to them - and that includes being able to nip to the loo when needed!

I will make sure everyone involved in your care gets a chance to see your feedback. They, like me, will be very grateful that you have taken the time to let us know about your experience.

Best wishes

Catherine
