My daughter was assessed at the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic. Despite the 16month waiting list, the entire Allergy team deserve a word of thanks.
From I walked in, flustered, with a cranky toddler we were met with smiley faces (through their masks of course!) who couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.
From the healthcare assistant (sorry I didn’t catch your name!) who took my daughters height and weight and showed the utmost patience when she point blank refused to have her height taken.
To Dr Doyle, who went above and beyond to listen, explain and reassure. I particularly valued the fact she shared the evidence base when explaining and answering my questions- I knew my daughter was in such safe, competent hands! It’s been a long time since I’ve met someone with such genuine compassion and empathy (and I work in healthcare!).
Finally, to Michelle, allergy nurse and the healthcare assistant (sorry I didn’t catch your name!) who carried out the skin prick tests- thank you, thank you, thank you!! I have a fiercely independent and stubborn toddler and to be honest I was dreading the disapproving looks I imagined I was going to get, for not being able to get her to sit still! Why was I worried? You both were so patient, lighthearted and kind, obviously my little girl absorbed that, as she proved me wrong and lay chilled out! The stickers were also very much appreciated!
I am so grateful for this care experience and left feeling not only personally equipped, but that the entire team had our backs on whatever this allergy journey may look like!
