"When you're ready, you will listen"

About: Halton Integrated Recovery Service

(as a service user),

In order to stop myself smoking cannabis after 20 years, I sidestepped to a CBD vape... OMG was it a mistake!

After 3 weeks, I had a massive anxiety attack and found myself having palpitations and huge anxiety attacks. I was off my feet (& head) with strange sensations, numb spots and general confusion, so I messaged Kim for help. She went through how I was feeling and offered suggestions as to how I could get through the dark tunnel I was travelling. It was only when she recommended I talk to the Dr about heart meds to combat the palpitations when I realised that I had the meds I needed already, I had just buried my head in the sand and avoided the situation (shakes head in disbelief).

Kim gave me great advice and comfort when I was detoxing and feeling like I was dieing, but I knew what she said was real and logical and I was able to hold onto it. I restarted my ongoing meds and within 48 hours my heart rate and bodily sensations had returned to normal and I was thinking straight again!

I'm feeling better than ever now, and I know that it's because I was finally ready for this change, I just needed to hear it come from myself, rather than told other people's reasons.

Of course knowing that my sponsor has been there and done that means that I knew she had my back, and that's not something you can take...

Thanks Kim 😘 xx

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like it was a scary time for you and I'm glad you were able to seek support from Kim. Sometimes we need other people to give us a fresh perspective and recognise how we can help ourselves and it sounds like Kim did that for you. I am glad you are in a much better place now and able to talk about what happened. I have shared your comments with Kim and the team and we are always here should you need any help. Wishing you all the best in your recovery and I hope you stay well.
