"Treatment and care since January"

About: Scarborough General Hospital / Accident and emergency Scarborough General Hospital / Cardiology Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

In January I experienced an episode of chest pain and i attended minor injuries as i was working at Bridlington hospital site that day.

The tests etc resulted in me being transferred by ambulance to A &E at Scarborough.

During the journey i was treated by the paramedics ( who were excellent) and taken into A &E.  After being there most of day and ending up on EAU I was referred to rapid chest pain clinic and allowed to go home with various treatments. During this visit I was moved by the care and compassion shown to myself but also other patients who were there at the time. 10 days later i was seen by cardiology who said they would send me for angiogram as messing about with other tests would not be helpful. Hopefully the wait would be about 4-6 weeks as due to covid impacting.

After 1 further visit to A &E i had angio 4 weeks later at which point i was admitted to coronary care due to results . The staff here were amazing. I was treated with such compassion and they provided such support to me and my family during my 10 day stay. I struggled being a patient ( i myself am a health professional) and they made sure to support me through all the ups and downs especially as no visiting due to covid.

Then i was transferred by another fab ambulance crew to castle hill then 3 days later i had the procedure and was allowed home.

I cannot fault the care given ,and this is even more impressive due to all the extra pressures placed on them by covid.

They saved my life, and i saw them go above and beyond. You are a credit too the job. Thankyou , I will never forget your care.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your time with us in Scarborough Hospital. It's great to hear that the staff were caring and compassionate during what must have a very distressing time, I know it can make such a difference especially when visiting remains restricted. Please be assured I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments to thank the staff for you. I hope you are recovering well at home now and thank you again for taking the time to let us know what a difference the staff made to your hospital stay.
