"Visiting restrictions"

About: The Evington Centre / Beechwood Ward

(as a relative),

I tried all morning to contact the centre of excellence (their words) to book a visit to see my very ill mother, no joy so I drove over and tried to get to see my mam has I had paperwork that needed to be signed by my mother. I was told that we're five people in the bay my mother was in, and somebody already had a visitor so no other family can visit that day.

So the rules are that you can only have one visitor per family per day for one hour and that's if you are lucky enough to get through on the phone.

My brother booked a visit on a Saturday for the following Tuesday no problem.

I was there on the Monday and asked to book a visit on Thursday to see my mother to be told you can only book 24 hours in advance, and apparently that rule only came in on that day.

You cannot contact them by phone.

They said they would call you back if I was lucky enough to get through to them, then they didn't call back.

It always seems that the people you need to speak too are on a break, just left, in a meeting, anywhere other than talking to you.

I feel that they have not even tried to rehabilitate my mother at all and that is what she was sent there for.

They take my mothers nighttime alarm off her. She is riddled with bed sores, worse than she had at LRI.

I feel that they use COVID for any excuse not to let visitors in. I am now really concerned about my mothers mental state. This is not helping the family on the outside who can't get to see her, this feels like mental torture.

I feel we are being victimised, and discriminated against. It is frustrating and upsetting for all of us. There is not a fair system for us to visit, it's seemingly done on lucky dip system.
