7 years I’ve been waiting for a mental health assessment and I’ve repeatedly been refused. My GP has asked numerous times for a mental health assessment to be done as they’re concerned about my mood swings- still refused. The Rowan team have seemed absolutely useless to me. Doctors have acted lazy in my view and seem very unconcerned by phrases like suicide, knife, rope, overdose, etc. I need to know if my mood problem is due to bipolar disorder or my neurological disorder but do I know? Nope. Do they show any concern about my kids? Nope. Do they show concern that it’s affected my career and I’ve lost jobs and dropped out of uni because of it? Nope. Do they seem concerned that zero diagnosis and incorrect treatment with horrible side effects I don’t need are making me ill? Nope.
They don’t even have a clear list of medication I’ve been prescribed and when- even by their own team! I’ve been suffering for 11 years in total and took 4 years to do something about it but apparently it’s just depression. Even the psychology services team in their own hospital said it’s not just depression. Just to add- I felt that certain doctors and nurses slagged me off behind my back and asked doctors to just get me out of their sight, and discharged me back to my GP who is way out of their depth but trying their best. I've mostly seen them sit and drink coffee and not check on the patients, and tell us to get up and come and get our own meds and make our own tea and coffee and toast. Not a “care” environment at all. Zero checks seem to be done on wards or outpatients by management. Feel sorry for the staff that do care having to work in what I feel is a toxic environment!
