"Call from GP"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service

(as the patient),

I contacted NHS24 because I had severe swelling and pain outside normal GP hours. The nurse referred me for a GP visit at home. I received a call from a doctor, who, as I was to find out, would go so far as to shout at me about not being an emergency. I have multiple sclerosis and have processing issues, of which I had made NHS24 aware, but my questions for the purposes of clarification were treated as personal attacks by this doctor. I was left feeling upset and a burden, which no service user ever should, by someone who also shouted at me when I referred to them respectfully. I am worried for my welfare as a consequence of being denied any help, and and for this doctor's conduct towards patients.

Dear MSPatient

Thank you for sharing your recent experience on Care Opinion. I was very sorry to hear of the lack of compassion shown towards you by the GP that NHS24 had contacted on your behalf.

I am sure my colleagues at NHS24 will respond in greater detail to your post.

Kind regards.

Lesley
