It is about the disrespectful way I was treated at the hospital when I was with my husband who was on his death bed.
I am a 63 year old Polish lady and cared for my 77 year old husband, who was Scottish. My English is not very good. My husband was in Wishaw General hospital in May, stayed in intensive care for a few hours and was then moved into Ward 9. He was very poorly and the GP had told me he is dying. The hospital knew this as well.
When he was moved to the ward, someone from the hospital staff came to speak to me. I dont think this person was a doctor or a nurse, maybe a social worker and although they introduced himself at the time, I do not remember their name. This young person asked me private questions such as if my husband had a will in place and who is the beneficiary, who owns the house, my husband or the council where we stay and many more private questions. I was very worried and answered those questions but now I feel it was not right for anyone to ask these questions and feel very insulted. I do not think a Scottish lady is asked these questions when their husbands are dying in hospital. This happened March 2021 and my husband passed away the next day.
