I visited casualty at KGH on 2nd June with sudden onset of floaters and flashes in my left eye. After a brief examination I was told I would be contacted by appointment only eye casualty. The next day I was contacted and given an immediate appointment. I had a similar problem with my right eye 4 years ago and had a terrible time at Leicester, Northampton and the private Woodland hospitals, resulting in scarring on my eyes… KGH was a completely different experience. I was so anxious but The nurses were amazing, kind and understanding…The Dr was excellent…I don’t know his name but he is also a GP I understand. He listened to my concerns and showed me how he cleans the equipments etc… His test was thorough but gentle. He diagnosed and gave me a leaflet, which is reassuring and informative… something I’ve not been offered before ( such a great simple idea) As my issue can go on for a little while He assured me that I was now on their patient list , and if I had any change in vision to contact them straight away… What a world away from my previous experiences of huge waits, impatient medical people, and resulting eye infections … I felt like a person and not a number… I wish I had gotten everyone’s names… however my appointment was 4.45 3rd June… Thankyou so much all concerned. Brilliant service in what is an especially difficult time.
