I had to attend the Mater hospital for a colonoscopy. If you don’t know what it involves it means they insert a camera into your back passage to have a look around the bowel so they can see clearly if there are anything of concern or any other bowel disease that needs treatment.
Although most of us would rather not expose that part of the body it is so important to rule out any signs of cancer etc.
The medical staff and nurses were very professional and looked after my dignity at all times throughout the procedure and stayed with me until it was over. They constantly reassured me and held my hand until it finished. I then went into the recovery area and again was looked after by two lovely nurses.
If you have any concerns don’t delay and get them investigated. You will be well looked after.
