"Disappointed "

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Went here to have my 2nd baby had all my scans & midwives appointments here which were all great no complaints.

Went in to hospital to have my baby in November all the nurses were lovely. However my experience slightly changed once we were in postnatal most of the staff ok but me & my partner were spoken down to a lot by one nurse & did not feel at ease for the rest of our stay. To be crying because of one nurse completely ruined my time there.

Only a few days later we returned to the children’s department for a check up for our son to be greeted at the door with a rude attitude as we were supposed to be there at a earlier time but we wasn’t told this by the midwife at our home visit.

It’s a shame because most of the nurses & staff we have seen during pregnancy & to going into hospital were great but a couple not so great.

With this I would not return to this hospital again.

Thank you for your feedback. We were sorry to learn that your experience following the delivery of your son was spoilt by the attitude and behaviour of one of our midwives whilst you were on the post-natal ward and that, in the Children’s outpatient department you came across a similar attitude from a nurse there. I have discussed your concerns regarding your midwifery care with Mrs Jen Sager, Acting head of Midwifery who was saddened to hear of your poor experience and who will raise your concerns with the wider midwifery team to ensure staff reflect on the impact this has had for you and your decision to seek alternative services.

It is challenging to respond to all posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss your experience with us in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 276 8686, referencing PO21/0030 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk. And we will put you in contact with a senior member of the team to discuss your concerns.

The Trust has introduced a behavioural framework within which all members of the nursing and medical teams' practice, so it was disappointing to read that you found your experience has been a negative one. I can assure you that we have passed on your feedback to Dr Rosemary Howell, Divisional Clinical Director, NMGH Women and Children's Division, Ms Rachael Scholler Head of Nursing and Mr Josh Bainbridge Divisional Director who will share your feedback with the wider team.
