The reception staff took my details so I could sit in the waiting area and I was given a clinical mask (rather than wear my fabric one) which I liked. There were free condoms available at the entrance which is helpful; the whole clinic seemed immaculately clean, socially distanced and “covid-clean” and all the staff I met were a credit to your team. The doctor then called me out by name as there was no one else in the reception, and we went to a private room. He really calmed my nerves and made me feel at ease. Today, he was with a nurse and together they told me who they were, the procedure again and any side effects; I signed documents and they both made me feel really comfortable and cared for after I got upset. I was given water and tissues. They were so lovely and I can’t thank them enough for listening to me ramble, their genuine friendly demeanours and the work they did. The area where my implant is located was cleaned and I was given some local anaesthetic by injection and the doctor then used a scalpel to cut my skin. I didn’t feel a thing despite my implant being a bit difficult to remove. They said that I was quite the bleeder so I’m sorry about that haha. The doctor and nurse spent the time to ask me about my day, life, and to tell jokes so that I could forget what was going on. He then took the implant out and fixed me up. I now have a plaster covered by a bandage on my arm, which I was told could be taken off in a few days. I was then asked about future contraception to which other methods were carefully explained to me. I was given the contact details of the clinic, more condoms and the necessary support to decide about how I was going forward with my contraception and health. This was one of my first interactions with people in almost a year due to covid and I felt like I was talking to real friends rather than uninterested employees, if that makes sense. I’m really sorry I can’t remember their names and if I’ve got their job titles of “doctor” and “nurse” wrong. I just hope they know how important and cared for they made me feel and that I’m really thankful of their work and shining personalities throughout the process. I was then taken out of the room and led to the exit, making it a quick, safe and simple procedure. I was then sent a text detailing a contraception website we had spoken about in the appointment, which made me again feel like I was really looked after and listened to. This is my third time visiting the clinic, twice previously for STD tests and this time for an implant removal. I have never had a bad experience here and your clinic is second to none. Other surgeries should really take note of how you handle your patients and execute your services because if I’m honest I really like visiting this place, despite how weird that seems. All of your staff are always lovely and I’ve never had a bad experience. Thank you to all of you! Keep up the amazing work!
