My husband was admitted to Hairmyres with endocarditis on 20/4/21 and remained there until 29/5/21. The care he received from the nursing staff, doctors, catering and domestic staff was exemplary. He was very ill for a while and they treated him (and me) with kindness and always with a smile and a sense of humour. This made the stay much more bearable.
He had to have his teeth removed while in and was transferred to the community dentist and had 13 teeth removed under local anaesthetic. He is absolutely terrified of needles and the dentist but the team of dentists and dental nurses who dealt with him at the health centre and later on in the ward when he was having problems were wonderful too.
I want to mention Danielle who travelled with him to the dentist and kept me informed and kept his spirits up. Throughout his stay she was fantastic and a pleasure to see when I visited. I also want to mention Skye who was one of his nurses. Skye was there with a smile on her face, keeping us both informed and keeping Billy’s spirits up. There were many other staff who looked after him and I’m grateful to each and every one of them.
Too often we only take the time to complain instead of saying thank you.
Thank you Ward 9!!
I also want to thank the staff at the Medical Centre who ensured he was seen and recognised the symptoms and sent him to the hospital. We are very lucky to have GP ‘s like Dr Susan and Dr Michael
