"Staff not understanding my condition"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 4A initially, my abilities to walk was dwindling due to paralysis.

I had two falls while on the ward. I have Guillain Barre Syndrome, which was not yet diagnosed. On the second fall a nurse stated "well I have seen everything now". On both occasions they refused to get a hoist to help me up, leaving my body badly bruised.

I was transferred to ward 4D and on waiting for my lumbar puncture, I asked for help to open a jam. A staff member said they would do it in a minute, I was then approached by a nurse who said "my nurses aren't here to help you they are here to help sick people, and I can tell you right now you don't have GBS. After I was diagnosed she didn't apologise.
