"Complacent with newcomers"

About: Millbrook Mental Health Unit / Jasmine Suite (136 Suite)

(as a service user),

I feel that some of the staff are complacent with newcomers in the holding cell and presume introduction is not important. I was left believing the door was locked, and for an hour I knocked calling out that I needed to use the toilet.

Eventually the member of staff shouted through that the door was open and turn away without showing me where the toilet was!

There was also another member of staff member who wore no mask while pushing me back into my bedroom at 6 am, telling me I was up too early, literally in my face.

Hi J7, thank you for your post, please allow me to apologise if staff failed to introduce themselves and orientate you to the Jasmine suite. There are on-suite facilities located in the bedrooms but of course it would have been helpful for you to know about this when you arrived. In order for me to fully understand the details of your experience I would like to invite you to contact me in whatever means is preferable to you so I can look into this matter. Feedback is essential to the Trust as we strive towards improving the experience of patients and carers who use our services.

Regards,

Michael Thomas, Service Manager.

Update posted by J7 (a service user)

I am now in lucy wade ward. I am a sound engineer and it is my opinion that the acoustics of the building at normal level average at just below the dangerous threashold for hearing loss This is because of the amplification caused by sound boucing off the hard surfaces.the building has no sound dampening proofing as fas as I can see and is echoeing everyones normal conversation so when there are kick offs and screams and multiple people talking the db decibels are reaching 120 plus...

I am wearing ear plugs for my own protection but I am raising a concern for your unaware staff and patients.I am recording these levels on my phone!
