"Two years waiting time for a diagnostic laparoscopy"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I've been waiting for a diagnostic laparoscopy with an endometriosis specialist Dr. Saraswat for a year and two months now. I recently called to find out how much longer will I have to wait and I was told 9 months to a year. I understand its a pandemic but even then two years waiting time for a diagnostic laparoscopy is not normal. My condition has gotten worse and I cant live my life like this for another year. Dr Saraswat is the only endometriosis specialist in the Grampian and I was told that I cant be transferred elsewhere where they have more specialists because that would mean me going into a different area. That makes no sense, to wait two years for a diagnostic laparoscopy with a specialist if there are more specialists with shorter waiting times outside the Grampian area! I feel like I will never get the help I need in time.

I am sorry to hear that your symptoms have continued to deteriorate and you feel you are unable to wait any longer for your surgery.
