"Georgina Ward - terrible communication"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Uncaring, uninterested staff with medical team who seemed unable to make a decision. My husband’s care has been diabolical. This is the first time he’s ever been in hospital and over my dead body will he go into this hospital again! He was admitted “overnight” and seven days later he’s still there. He’s having NO treatment just waiting for doctors, whilst my husband is spending his birthday alone with no visits allowed and, as he’s on the cancer ward, it might be the last birthday we could have together. Appalled at this hospital.

Thank you for your feedback.

It is always disappointing to learn that patients are unhappy with the service we provide as it is always our aim to provide a high quality service to all our patients and I am sorry that your experience was less than satisfactory.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve patient care, this feedback will be forwarded to the matrons who look after Ward C4 (Georgina Ward) for them to follow up with their staff.

In the meantime, we strongly urge you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net who will be happy to look into the concerns you have raised.

Best wishes

Patient Experience Team
