My wonderful Dad Tommy spent the last 4 weeks of his life being cared for in Ward 3B of the Ulster hospital.
My Dad was admitted after visiting his doctor with a shortness of breath and immediately received oxygen and antibiotics to fight an infection in his lungs, which we later found out was pneumonia.
From the day he was admitted he was so thankful of the care and respectful attention he received and for 3 weeks believed he was a fraud and kept telling the staff that he was sorry for bothering them. He loved the food so much that we called his stay in the ward, his Spa retreat.
Sadly and after a very brave battle, Tommy, my Dad, my mentor, my friend and wonderful husband to my Mum, fantastic father in law to my wife, and legendary Granda to our children, passed away on Friday 28th May 2021.
On behalf of my Father and our family I just want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who cared for him, from the cleaning and catering staff to the nurses and doctors who treated him with dignity and respect throughout his illness.
I will always be indebted to you for looking after such a special person in my life and I am comforted knowing that he passed away with us at his bedside, fully aware of how much he meant to us and how loved he was.
Thank you all for taking care of him and for allowing us to visit when we needed to, without exception. The staff we encountered in Ward 3B of the Ulster Hospital are legendary, just like my Dad and the family thank you for everything you all did.
