My mum recently had a prolonged stay in RVH. The medical attention she received from Doctors in medical, surgical and ICU teams was amazing, and saved her life. They were also extremely caring in their manner towards my mum and me.
I had most communication with Dr Phil Wilson and his fabulous team in ward 4B. I would particularly like to thank him for the time he took to phone me over the weeks mum was his patient, as I did not get the opportunity to do this, and it meant a great deal.
My observation of nursing care on 4B was good. However, the communication from a small minority of nursing staff was abrupt, verging on aggressive and totally unnecessary. Many staff wore no identification. Thank you also to the support staff. Unfortunately I can’t remember all the names, but mum always mentioned Sam who made sure she had plenty of cuppas and had a friendly word.
