"lack of administration continuity in cancer care"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

Relative being treated for cancer. Nursing staff were excellent but seems to be total  discrepancies with recording of information and the ability of Doctor and Consultants to read patients records before opening their mouths. Due to Covid relative was told could only have reduced treatment dose instead of full dose. Had numerous unnecessary admissions due to lack of administration continuity I could go on and on but too late for relative now.

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your relatives experience.

We aim to offer the highest standards of care and respect to all our patients, and so it is good to hear you feel that nursing staff were excellent.

It is very disappointing to read that you experienced problems with the administration and for this we must apologise. It is difficult to comment on your specific case without your details and reviewing your medical notes.

We strongly urge you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net who will be happy to assist you further.

Best wishes

Patient Experience Team
