In late May my mother was transferred from Borders General Hospital to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. I phoned the switchboard at 08:30 and asked if they could tell me which ward she was in.
I was very swiftly redirected to Ward 103 where I spoke to William (a non-clinical person). William was understanding, pleasant and helpful and answered all my questions as best he could and offered to call me back when he had more information. He did this within an hour and was able to reassure me and pass on information he had from a staff nurse.
Non-clinical staff are often overlooked but I would like to pass on my thanks to William for his help and understanding at a difficult time.
"Thank you to a helpful ward clerk"
