"Excellent receptionist attitude towards mental health"

About: Nethergreen Surgery

(as a service user),

I rang up the surgery on a Friday to get an appointment with my usual GP who I see for ongoing mental health problems. They were not in that day but the receptionist said there were other doctors available. I said that I preferred to see the usual GP as he knew what was going on etc. and that I could phone back on Monday. She asked me if I was sure I would be OK until Monday, and if anything changed or I needed to speak to someone earlier, to ring back and they'd find a way to squeeze me in.

I didn't need to take her up on this offer as it was not urgent, but I really appreciated that it was offered, that her attitude to mental health was caring, validating and compassionate and that really meant a lot as this is often not the case at a lot of GP surgeries. Keep it up! The little things can go a long way for those of us living with mental health problems!

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience.

I'm delighted that you were treated with empathy and compassion and that you were offered extra support whilst waiting for your usual GP.

I'll share your kind words with the team, who always appreciate hearing they made a positive impact in caring for our patients.

Kind regards

Daniel Sayliss
