"Staff were brilliant"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatric surgery ( Wards 3A & 3B)

(as a parent/guardian),

All NHS staff were brilliant before and after my sons operation in May. The only thing was we were in ward 1A then few hours after my sons operation we had to move wards to 1E. I thought this was not good especially for infection control plus to be told short staffed that why ward was to close. I couldn't thank all staff enough they are rushed off their feet and do a brilliant job to the best they can under pressure and still make sure I was ok and my son even going out there way to make myself toast and coffee even when there shift had finished... Royal hospital for children is brilliant 👏

Dear NSMgz48

Thank you so much for sharing your story about your sons operation in May. This must have been a very worrying time for you and your children and this makes it particularly heart-warming that you have taken the time to write to us.

We were sorry that you were concerned about moving from Ward 1A to Ward 1E and that you were worried this would increase the risk of infection to your son. We hope we can provide you with some reassurance that we would only move your son when it was safe to do so and we will ensure we share this message with our families going forward.

It does sound as though the hospital was very busy that day, and it was therefore very pleasing to read the Ward 1E Team went out of their way to ensure you were comfortable and provided with some refreshments after what was undoubtedly a very long day for you.

I can share with you that we will pass on your comments to the teams in Ward 1A and 1E alongside the thanks from our senior management team to all of the staff members who provided you with such a good experience of care.

We hope so much your son has recovered well at home and we send our warmest best wishes to you both.

Kindest regards and take care

Coral
