Anything else?
My father was asked to arrive at 7.30am. By 9am he was the only one still left in reception. He eventually got seen and my mother was told he would have surgery at approx midday. We called at 2pm and after a few attempts when no one answered the phone on the 3rd try we got an answer and it transpired that my father hadn't actually had his surgery yet. This carried on all afternoon and he finally went for surgery at approx 5.30pm a full 10 hours after arriving. Various excuses were offered throughout the day and he was just sat in a small cubicle on a chair. 10 hours plus for an elderly man who has recently been very ill is just cruel, unacceptable and really shows this hospital up. Utterly disgraceful.
On another note. I overheard in the waiting area in the morning a surgeon tell another patient that he had got him 'nice and high' at the top of the list so this patient could get outside for a cigatrette as soon as possible after surgery. So there you go these patients are being prioritised.
