"The new urgent care centre at Forth Valley Royal Hospital."

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Clinical assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Urgent Care Centre Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Vascular Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as the patient),

On March 2021 I was diagnosed with DVT after having a vascular ultrasound. This led to my having a series of tests such as a chest x-ray, MRI, numerous blood tests, and I then had to stay overnight for observation and was booked in for a CT scan the next day.

I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated during this time. Tegan, from urgent care spent the whole day organising appointments for me and liaising with other medical professionals. On the wards, Cat and her team were very helpful and made me feel welcome and cared for. The catering ladies were also very friendly and ensured that I had tea and coffee and sandwiches. Dr Reid was assigned to be my doctor/specialist and she was very caring and encouraging, telling me what to expect from my treatment and how I would need to deal with my condition.

Once I was discharged from hospital, I was given rivaroxyban/xaralto pills to take for 3 weeks. At the end of this period however, my leg swelled up again and I had another visit to the Critical assessment team. This led to my medication being changed to Warfarin.

From mid April I had to regularly visit Urgent care for daily blood tests. The staff in urgent care were amazing. They assisted by allowing my appointments to be before 9am so that I could get back in time for work. They were friendly and kind and I looked forward to seeing them each morning. They also arranged to call me with my INR results after work, because of my work I could not take calls until 6pm. I would like to commend Heather, the two Lindsays, Alison, and Sara for their efficiency during this time. I was under their care for two weeks in March and they were all stars. I would also like to mention Martin, on reception, who was also so friendly, polite and helpful during these two weeks.

Overall, I would like to thank Forth Valley Royal hospital staff for the excellent service they have given in all departments. They do a stirling job and I am very grateful to them all.

Dear Michelle,

Thanks so much for passing my story on to the team. I really appreciate it and am so delighted that I have been able to encourage them all.

I am making good progress now, thank you. It will take a while but I can see my treatment is working and my leg is responding to the warfarin.

I appreciate your response to my story - thanks so much for your kind comments.

Take care x
