Where to begin! Having suffered abdominal pains, with most of the pain accumulating on the right side I stoically took myself to work on Friday and by 3 pm thought I'd call it a day and drive 50 mins to my home.
My daughter, who just happens to be a nurse, advised me to go for an emergency appointment with my local GP as I had a temperature and it was going into the weekend.
I was referred by the GP to the duty surgeon at A&E at the Borders General Hospital straight away. I was attended to in a fast, efficient and friendly manner by all staff in A&E.
I then moved to Ward 7 where I was given a cancellation slot to be operated on the Saturday. This was then delayed due to an accident taking the anaesthetist away.
I just had to write to say that my whole experience gave an impression of a well oiled machine. I had teams of people working in tandem who gave me the confidence in their knowledge to feel safe when I was feeling vulnerable and who throughout it all gave a first class service.
Shame I was sick or I'd love to have recommended to others to come for the 5 star experience!
Thank you again my GP Practice & Dr Lockie; The A&E Team at the Borders General Hospital; Mr Kamran and his team and everyone involved in making Ward 7 at the Borders General work as well as it does when you're in your time of need.
"My first NHS inpatient experience"
