"An operation l had for trapped nerves 2 and a half years ago"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Trauma & Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

l felt just as bad as l was before and now l cant stand for long or walk very far without a lot pain. Two doctors in my surgery say that l still have some trapped nerves. l was  to be seen by a neurosurgeon as the surgeon who performed my operation had left and there was  no one to replace them at that time. now l am put back on the orthopaedic list and I would like to know when l am likely to be seen, as l am very depressed with all this pain.

Dear Elaine C,

I am sorry to hear of the pain you are experiencing and the impact this is having on general activities such as walking or standing.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to ensure we prioritise life-saving treatments and significantly reduce the number of patients that we are able to bring into hospital. Unfortunately this means that we are not able to tell you how long you will need to wait to be seen.

If you'd like us to look in to your specific case more closely, please contact our Complaints and Feedback Team by emailing tay.feedback@nhs.scot

I understand how difficult this must be for you and I can only apologise for any distress or inconvenience this causes you. I do hope we are able to see you soon and you start to experience some relief from the pain you are suffering.

Kind Regards

Sarah Lowry

Service Manager
