"He is so pround of himself"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Play Service

(as a parent/guardian),

The patient has been at the hospital on a number of occasions to get blood tests done. He has been very scared and anxious and has refused to have more. After a few sessions with Denise the play specialist at Aberdeen Children’s hospital, he went to get his blood tests today!

Without the help of Denise this would not have been possible. He was still a little scared but using the technique for breathing demonstrated by Denise and her support we were successful in getting the bloods taken. He is so proud of himself!!

"I had a needle to get blood. I felt scared but Denise helped me and I did it. I can’t believe I did it but I did."

Dear Auntie T

Thank you so much for sharing this experience,

He absolutely should be very proud of himself as we are of him for overcoming these fears so super well done. 👏🙌

Needle phobia is very common and Denise and the rest of the play therapists do an amazing job with the work they do to help children overcome anxiety and fears and will be delighted to know that their efforts have been successful.

I will make sure that Denise and the rest of the staff receive a copy.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback
