"ANSWER THE PHONE PLEASE!!!!!!!!"

About: Pear Tree Surgery

Since March last year, this surgery has been leveraging the "muh cos of Covid" excuse to the max. You can NEVER get through on the phone so are forced to go into the surgery. I thought we had to "Stay at Home. Protect the NHS"? Ask them why they aren't answering the phone and they tell you they are understaffed, new staff in training, busy blah blah.

When I was last in the surgery I had to stand and watch one elderly male patient asking where his scan results (from a scan taken over 3 weeks ago) were. The receptionist could care less when he anxiously requested an appointment. Then I witnessed another elderly lady practically begging the receptionist for an appointment for her clearly very unwell daughter. Again, the receptionist couldn't care less as she told the poor woman there was no appointments left and could her daughter come to the surgery in 2 weeks. When the lady explained her daughter couldn't move due to her illness, the huffy receptionist reluctantly found an appointment. The poor woman cried with relieft and thanked said receptonist profusely. She deserved no thanks.

I myself then made my appointment for the next available slot in 6 weeks time and got a blood work sheet so I could book a blood test wherever I could find one because the surgery no longer does blood tests. Really? How very odd since they are happy to ring you and offer to stick a needle in you for a vacinnation you don't need or want.

Then there was my brother's experience. He had found a lump and was sent for an ultrasound at Nuneaton hospital. They said the results would be sent to Pear Tree immediately and the doctor would be in touch within 48 hours. 5 weeks later and nothing. He rang Nuneaton hospital who told him they had sent the results the very next day and they said they would send them again. My husband went into Pear Tree and the receptionist said they hadn't had them. He received a phone call from the doctor who said that Nuneaton had only sent them that morning. You don't say. My husband told the doctor that the results had already been sent weeks previously so why no call? The doctor denied receiving them. I think I know who I believe.

We're all busy. We all work and we don't use Covid as an excuse for tardiness. This surgery should be the subject of a review as to why it is so shockingly inept.
