"Fantastic and supportive reception and nurses"

About: Lydney & District Hospital Site

I came to the minor injuries unit after coming off of my mountain bike on nearby trails in the Forest of Dean.

I was in a great deal of pain and fortunately for me the place wasn’t too busy and the receptionist was extremely patient with me struggling to speak and caring of my injuries.

Before long I was summed by one of the nurses who was also very concerned for me and provided me some pain relief after checking what happened, my blood pressure and medical history etc. I was given a sling for my injured shoulder and sent back into the waiting room for further analysis by another member of staff.

Again, it was a much shorter wait than I come to expect from an A&E department and I was being examined in greater detail this time. I received the same treatment as before, very kind and caring and understanding, despite the fact I am one of the many mountain bikers who frequent their place of work it seems!

I had to have an x-ray which was the only negative part of my visit. I was met by some members of staff who were straight talking and not quite so ‘caring’ and it felt a bit like I was a burden to them to be honest. Very little support when I was trying to pose for the machine etc.

It turns out that the x-ray that was done was not of a very good quality for whatever reason so I will be going for another x-ray to ensure nothing was missed.

Overall the minor injuries nurses were patient, professional and very caring of my injury but the x-ray was a bit disappointing for me, particularly in comparison to the experience I just had with their colleagues.
