Like many others, I received a letter from NHS Lanarkshire Orthopaedics Dept stating that there is still no date for my elective surgery. There was an explanation, and an apology, and a sentence about how I have not been forgotten and that they are aware that I'm waiting for surgery.
I have to say that I very much appreciated that letter. In all of the things that admin teams have to do, I'm very glad that they are writing to patients to let them know they are not forgotten. It could be a long wait for my surgery, but knowing that the department is still aware I am waiting, and that they are doing all they can to prioritise care and to get a date out to me as soon as they possibly can, can only be a good thing. The letter is very much a part of my care, and I felt cared for.
So I just want to thank those departments, orthopaedics or otherwise, in whatever NHS Trust you are in, for keeping the communication going with patients, despite not having much information to give them. But of course I'm with NHS Lanarkshire Orthopaedics, so my thanks goes in particular to them. Thanks for all your efforts to keep us informed.
