"A recent stay"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I would just like to say that my overnight stay on Ward 2 in Grantham Hospital was a very pleasant stay,I say pleasant considering myself and two other gentlemen were obviously in attendance as we were all having some form of surgery.

But I feel I must say that all the staff from cleaners right the way through to Mr Roswell our surgeon they were all very professional and pleasant at all times and really help make our stay as comfortable as possible.

I personally have been on the other end of the care spectrum so to speak but this was a refreshing change to be treated with a great deal of empathy the whole time I and my fellow patients were in ward 2,it was nice to see that the elderly being treated well as again I have witnessed some terrible acts of behaviour towards elderly patients in my various in patient stays at other hospitals.

So all in all a brilliant job from our very precious NHS service and I and my fellow patients thank all at Grantham.

“Thank you for taking the time to send in your experience as it really helps with staff morale and to ensure we are delivering the care that we aspire to.

That is really sad to hear that you have experienced that type of behaviour towards elderly patients in other hospitals – we aim to try and make everyone’s experience and journey as pleasant as can be, after surgery, and will certainly share with the team that we have done this for you and for the other patients in the bay with you as per your comments.

As the ward manager it is a real boost to get these comments to know that the team are working hard to deliver quality care and this is shared at our ward meetings and does, after a really hard year, give the staff a huge thank you and that means more than anything at the minute”
