"Birth experience"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as a service user),

Ward experience left a lot to be desired: Agreed care plan to help protect my mental health/ reduce birth trauma anxiety was not followed, leaving me anxious and without support. Staff were too busy to offer quality breastfeeding help and tongue tie was not identified. Sleep was almost impossible- bright lights shining through windows from corridor, staff laughing and calling out to each other in the small hours and constant noise of doors slamming. Couldnt leave fast enough as felt like I was a burden asking for assistance from staff and like I was part of a factory birth experience.

Hello MamaBear38,

Firstly let me start by congratulating you on the birth of your new baby.

I am sorry to hear that your experience has not been positive and this is certainly not the level of care we would expect from our service.

Please be reassured that I have taken your feedback on board and will be discussing with those involved and the wider team, and will endeavour to make necessary improvements.

Should you wish to discuss further, please contact gram.womensservices@nhs.scot with your contact details.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope you are settling into family life well.

Natalie
