"Efficient COVID vaccine service"

About: NHS Shetland Shetland Islands Health & Social Care Partnership

(as a service user),

Excellent service at the Gilbertson Park COVID Vaccine centre today - it was a bit delayed because of extra information needing to be given and offering option to delay vaccine, but the team kept everyone moving through efficiently with clear instructions and a well set up building.

The vaccinator was really clear and explained risks etc helpful and efficient without rushing things, which can't be easy when you're doing the same thing over and over all day!

Thanks all - well organised, understandable delay which wasn't the team's fault and considering the numbers going through I'm impressed at how quickly and smoothly it went.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such positive feedback. It means a lot to all our staff and volunteers.

New advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) means NHS Shetland is adjusting how it will deliver vaccines to those under 40. Now, where possible, other vaccine should be used instead of AstraZeneca for those aged 30-39.

Because of the imminent change we ensured that all those in the 30-40 year age range today were made aware of the new guidance and offered the opportunity of being rebooked into a Pfizer clinic at a later date.

This is the first time we have offered a choice at our clinics and unfortunately this did mean there were some delays for people waiting to get their jab.

We are sorry that people had to wait a little longer than they expected.
