"Cpn walked Away"

About: Community Mental Health Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre

(as a service user),

Last week my cpn said I had an appointment at whitehills when I showed up the time the cpn didn’t appear.

I phoned the office and ask for my cpn but the admin staff just passed a message on saying it’s tomorrow but the cpn is leaving the office I was standing at the door, they saw me and carried on walking towards their car, then when I was there today they were 5 minutes late and didn’t apologise to me and said are you coming to the room so they left.

I said don’t know my last cpn stood with me until I calmed down but the new one walked away from me then came back gave me the choice to go or they will be cancelling the appointment so I went to the toilet then they came in 10 minutes later and said that the appointment was over when I had an hour left then they then came back in and said if you don’t leave I’ll phone the police in ten minutes later the another cpn came in and said the same time and they weren’t prepared to engage with me after I said that.

I was scared and  very distressed at the time so the police came and open the door and I got a lecture from the police saying that I wasn’t engaging and don’t say they don’t care so I just ignored them but the two cpn just stood and watch, my old cpn knew how to work me and the new one is doing the same mistakes as previous cpns did just walked away from me

I am sorry that you feel that your worker and the administrative staff member did not communicate with you effectively, and that involvement of the police was deemed necessary. I understand the importance of clear communication in supporting you to manage your mental health needs.

If you do not feel that the communication from the Community Mental Health Team met your needs please discuss this with your worker at your next appointment so that you can explore the best communication methods to meet your needs. You could also take this opportunity to discuss how you would like your worker to communicate with you if they meet with you outwith appointment times. You are welcome to ask a friend, family member or Angus Independent Advocacy to support you if you feel you would like support to put across your views at appointments. Angus Independent Advocacy can be contacted on 01241 434413 or enquiries@angusindadvocacy.org

I hope you feel able to discuss this incident with your allocated worker and agree how you can both communicate in the future to best meet your needs.

If you would like us to investigate your concerns further please call us on 01307 491747

I sacked that cpn as no way I was getting treated like that, I felt they treated me like rubbish. I have been misdiagnosed for many years I only found out that I have asd, no wonder for years I have been struggling to have a good relationship with cpns.

One cpn wrote down what helped and not helped, but it got chucked out of the window by the last cpn who carried on with the borderline stuff which didn’t work at all. Everytime I get someone new it gets harder because I normally get treated like a textbook for borderline, or they leave because they're sick.

I thought recent management at CMHT felt rubbish to me as well, didn’t listen to me and treated me as if borderline treatment was the only thing. Previous management seen and did what was right for me and actually listened to me
