(as a service user),

I am trying to get in touch with my local MS Specialist nurse but seemingly they are off sick from work. I received an automatic email response that just says 'I'm off' and to get in touch with my GP or contact NHS 24. Whilst this is some advice albeit minimal, I am increasingly frustrated and left feeling vulnerable, as my MS nurse is frequently unavailable for work. Over the last 7 years, they have been absent on a regular basis I require regular monitoring due to the medication I'm on and need help to access online video appointments with my consultant. Please could I be reassured that my MS nurse will be back to work on a regular basis?

Thankyou for taking the time to contact us and tell us about your recent experience when you required support from our MS Service, I realise that being unable to access your Specialist Nurse would have increased that distress, and I am very sorry that this happened.

I have spoken to Gail Allan who is the Head of Service for the Specialist Nurses, and she has advised that she would be happy to discuss this with you further to see how we could improve access to our Neurological Service, could you please contact us either through Care Opinion or by direct contact with her email - gail.allan1@nhs.scot
