About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

Anything else?

I visited A&E on Sat night with my 25 months old toddler who was having high grade fever (39.3 celsius) for last 24 hours that worried me much. The paediatric nurse was very rude to me straight from the start when I mentioned what was our problem saying that the temperature would go down when the infection went away. I didn't know what kind of infection my son had so decided it was better to see a doctor if he needed some antibiotics. Interesting part is that nurse shouted on my crying baby who didn't want to cooperate and she came up with armpit temperature reading 37.1 celsius saying that he didn't have any fever at all and there was nothing wrong with him. I'm sure that ear digital thermometer I used at home is 100 times more accurate compared to armpit thermometer especially when you try to take child's temperature without undressing his top as the bulb needs to be in contact with his skin and not tshirt!

Why would I want to take my son to A&E on Saturday night after midnight with temperature reading of 37.1 celsius?

Extremely dissatisfied and hope I will never have to go there again.
