"Our family are extremely grateful for the care and attention dad received from every single member of staff at Kilbryde"

About: Kilbryde Hospice

(as a relative),

Dad was admitted to Kilbryde Hospice for pain management and end of life care. Dad had prostrate cancer which had spread to his ribs and he was in constant pain.

Thankfully our GP managed to get him placed into Kilbryde where he spent the last 11 days of his life.

Our family are extremely grateful for the care and attention dad received from every single member of staff at Kilbryde. All of them are special people and I would like to extend our thanks in particular to Diane, the nurse who attended to dad during the weekend before he passed away. Thanks also to Ian who gave me an early morning call and arranged my brother and I to be by dads bedside for his final hours. I must also mention Liz Anne, the family liaison office and Willie, the chaplain who both provided care and support.

Dear wstxf02

Thank you for taking the time to post the story of your Dad's care at Kilbryde Hospice on Care Opinion. As Clinical Services Director, I am very reassured to hear that your GP sought admission to the hospice for your Dad and his symptoms were controlled. This must be of comfort to you. You mention that our staff and volunteers are very special people. but your Dad must have been very special to you and I am glad that we could give him the care he deserved.

It has been a challenging year for the hospice as a whole, but feedback like this will give our fabulous staff and volunteer team a real boost. This applies to our inpatient unit team and all the staff and volunteers supporting in the background.

You have taken time to single out several members of staff and I am very grateful for that. I will feedback your comments to these staff members individually as this will mean a lot to them. I am delighted that all the team members were able to support you and your brother as your Dad approached the end of his life.

Take care of yourself in the coming weeks and months and if there is anything I can do to help you further please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Margaret Mary Cowan
