"Shocked to be sent away by St Andrews minor injuries unit"

About: St Andrews Community Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a service user),

Shocked by my husband's treatment at St Andrews Community Hospital minor injuries unit today. He attended after injuring his knee and being almost unable to walk.

He was told to go away and call 111 or contact a GP. His GP was 450 miles away.

I feel bad writing anything negative about the NHS but this treatment was completely unexpected, particularly when the unit only had one other patient. In the end he had to call a helpful local GP, register as a temporary patient and we managed to get an appointment that day.

What a contrast in attitude and care.

Dear Ukizzy,

I am very sorry to read of the poor treatment your husband received at Minor Injuries Unit at St Andrews Community Hospital. I am so glad you managed to receive appropriate care from a local GP and I hope your husband is now making a good recovery.

We would aim to share all feedback with the appropriate team therefore I would be really keen to gather more details about your husband's experience.

If you could give me a call on 01592 643355 or email me at olivia.robertson3@nhs.scot I would be very grateful

kind regards

Olivia
