I had to call the 111 service on behalf of my elderly mother a few times over the new year. I found both the service and the people excellent. The 111 operators arranged a GP appointment for my mum and the GP came in early new year’s day. We also saw the same GP again a few days later which was really helpful as he already knew a bit about my mum. The GP was very friendly and professional at a time that was very frightful to me.
The reason I initially called 111 was reluctant to call 999 for my mother. It was a Saturday night and she is in her 80s with dementia. Therefore, the last place I wanted to be was sat in A&E.
I found the whole service a life line and I wanted to pass on how fantastic and efficient I found it.
