"The virtual visiting service RVH"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Acute Stroke Unit

(as a relative),

My husband has been a patient in the stroke ward for almost 4 weeks.  As visiting has been limited to 1 hour per week the virtual visits have been a life saver for our family.  My husband cannot access any IT equipment by himself so without the virtual visit my son and daughter would have had no opportunity to either see or speak with their Dad. As well as that the patient liaison team have requested for me that a member of staff in the ward would phone me each day with an update on my husband.  Again this has been a valuable service as  I could get no direct access to the ward by telephone.  I have found the whole team helpful, efficient and friendly with special thanks to Helen, Margaret and Alba

Dear Annhr35,

my name is Barry Murtagh and I am a Patient & Client Experience Facilitator within the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. I have been involved in the development and rollout of the Patient Liaison and Virtual Visiting Projects.

Virtual Visiting is part of an ongoing quality improvement project and this feedback is extremely helpful for its future development.

I am delighted to hear the team was able to help with communication between your husband and his loved ones.

This feedback has already been shared with the team who are extremely pleased (to say the least)!

I hope your husband is doing well and we can continue to be of assistance.

Best wishes,

Barry

My Name is Margaret Devlin and I am the Service Manager for the Stroke Service. Thanks you for your feedback on virtual visiting and on the daily calls from the ward to update you on your husbands progress. I am glad that we were able to facilitate contact for you and your family at what must have been a very difficult time for you all. Communication for family’s has been so difficult during COVID especially at a time when loved ones are so ill. Thank you for taking time to give feedback as it helps us to know how important these thigs are to families. I hope your husband continues to make progress in his recovery and do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else I can do to assist.
