I first had a ruptured disc on the right side of my neck in September 2011
I went to see a doctor privately because I couldn't wait months for an appointment to see a surgeon (the waiting list was not the n.h.s fault) I went to the appointment and the doctor was courteous and listened and told me I would need an mri and more than likely surgery. But then as an NHS patient, I have had rough treatment when examining my neck and been treated rudely in general.
But then I became the patient of Mr Mano, consultant neurosurgeon. The kindest, friendlyist doctor I've ever met in my time attending the royal victoria hospital, Mano as he told me to call him from my first appointment
I had a second rupture on the left side of my neck in September 2017
Mano seen me immediately and I received my surgery in february 2017(the first cervical disectomy I waited 8 mths in agony with no life for the previous surgeon. In the end some other doctor perform it)
I trusted mano and I knew he would operate as soon as it was possible. Their were people on his list with far worse problems than the one I ha But I trusted mano to do it as quickly as he could.
I am still under his care as I now have a nerve problem in my leg, which I think is coming from the discs in my neck.
I spoke on the phone to desmond, Mano's registar just this morning, I will need a full spine m.r.i. This is where I am now but I know I'm in the good hands of mano. He is my hero, He shows every patient he meets with the same respect and care. He inspires trust in his patients, that's what makes him such a good doctor.
I also have to say I have only been shown care and respect from everyone in the royal victoria hospital from the cleaners, porters, nurses everyone (excluding the first experience)
I can't say in words how much respect I have for the n.h.s and the people who make it what it is
Respect to all of you
"Shown care and respect from everyone"
